John Vegard was born and grew up in Oslo, Norway. He has been working as a professional musician, producer, songwriter and composer since 2001.

Schow is a professor of performing music (music production) and holds a master’s degree in musicology from the University of Oslo and Post Graduate Diploma in Education from the The Grieg Academy. He has been touring several European countries and the US as a pianist and has produced and arranged music for many artists in his Make Music Studio.

 

Schow writes music in different genres; jazz, pop, gospel, worship, children's music and music for film, theatre and TV. He released his album BLÅTT HJERTE (Blue Heart) in 2013 with his jazztrio the Schow Trio. On this album he presents his own music, traditional hymns and others instrumental music in their cool jazz style. The Schow Trio has toured venues in and outside of Norway.

Schow´s latest albums are compositions for solo piano;

"FOG - Lyrical pieces for piano". The project is with singles, sheet music and an album released in 2020. 

and

"Meistersaal Sessions - Live from Berlin" (2022 & 2023). This project was recorded live with video and audio in the legendary Meistersaal in Berlin.

and

REST (EP, Andante Piano) Streamed nearly 3 million times. 

 

Schow's music has been aired in many countries through the animation series the City Of Friends, where he also was in charge of the music productions and sound design for the 26 first episodes. The series, with his music, has been viewed on the BBC Channel 4, Cartoon Network, TV2 & TV4 among others, and in more than 180 countries.

 

He is a professor of music at the NLA University College. He runs Make Music AS and Make Music Publishing AS out of his studio outside Oslo.
